It is with great sorrow that we recently bid farewell to Prof. Allen Tannenbaum, who passed away last December at his home in New York.

Prof. Tannenbaum served as a senior faculty member at the Faculty from 1989 to 1992 and from 2005 to 2010. He is known as a leading researcher in applied mathematics and engineering. He has made extensive and influential research contributions in various engineering and applied mathematics fields, including control theory, computer vision, biological image work, and analytical methods for cancer research. Most recently, he was a distinguished professor in computer science and applied mathematics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and an associate researcher at the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research (MSK). His many friends and colleagues in Israel and worldwide will miss his extraordinary wisdom and personality.
