Welcome to our new Dean! Prof. Idit Keidar

The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering welcomes the incoming Dean, Prof. Idit Keidar.

Prof. Keidar is the first woman serving as the Faculty’s Dean; she replaces Dean Nahum Shimkin after a 4 year tenure.

Prof. Keidar is broadly interested in fault-tolerant distributed and concurrent algorithms and systems. For example, she has worked on distributed storage, concurrent data structures and transactions, and blockchain protocols. The main drive for her research is finding theoretical foundations that can help explain and improve the practice.

She received her BSc (summa cum laude), MSc (summa cum laude), and PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT.

In her spare time, Idit enjoys writing prose. A short story she wrote has recently won 2nd place in Shirat Ha’Mada creative writing contest for scientists; it is available (in Hebrew) in Shirat Hamada 2019, pp 18-23.
