Congratulations to Dr. Yaniv Romano on winning the prestigious Krill Prize

The prize is proof of his professionalism, investment, and comprehensive and deep research.

For the sixth consecutive year that the Faculty is represented thanks to our faculty members, Dr. Yaniv joins the five winners from years past:

Prof. Aviv Tamar, 2023

Prof. Itay Eyal, 2022

Prof. Ido Kaminer 2021

Prof. Tomer Michaeli, 2020

Prof. Shahar Kvatinsky 2019

It is an impressive achievement for the Faculty.

Each year, up to 10 prizes are awarded in the exact sciences, life sciences, medicine, agriculture, and engineering. The selection of winners is made according to criteria of excellence and the subject of research and its importance. The Wolf Foundation Scholarship Committee selects the winners from outstanding candidates submitted by Israeli universities.

Yaniv received the 2024 Krill Prize for his innovative work in data science, machine learning, and signal processing. His notable contributions include developing protective tools that guarantee, both theoretically and practically, the validity of conclusions drawn from complex machine learning algorithms; advancing the theoretical understanding of the principles behind deep learning; and creating image-processing techniques to recover high-quality visual data from corrupted images.
