Jury Award for Excellence Granted to Ph.D. Student Meshi Bashari

The Faculty is pleased to announce that the Jury Award for Excellence for the 2025/26 academic year has been awarded to Meshi Beshari, a direct-track Ph.D. student supervised by Prof. Yaniv Romano.

The Jury Award recognizes outstanding graduate students whose research advances the broad field of systems theory, including the mathematical design and analysis of signals, systems, and data.

Meshi’s research lies at the intersection of machine learning, deep learning, and statistics. Her work, titled “Reliable Detection of the Unknown,” focuses on developing reliable methods for identifying inputs, patterns, and phenomena that were not encountered during the training phase of a machine learning system. Addressing this challenge is essential for building trustworthy artificial intelligence systems capable of operating robustly in dynamic and uncertain real-world environments.

By combining rigorous theoretical foundations with advanced statistical methodologies, Meshi’s research contributes to improving the reliability and safety of modern AI systems and expands their ability to make dependable decisions under uncertainty.

The Faculty congratulates Meshi and Prof. Romano on this outstanding achievement and wishes them continued success in their research and scientific endeavors.
