We are pleased and honored to congratulate Dr. Yinon Stav on receiving an award for excellence in innovative and groundbreaking teaching.

Dr. Stav is an outstanding and highly experienced lecturer in the course Electric Circuit Theory (0440105), a mandatory faculty course and one of the first taken by students of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

His teaching innovation is twofold: both in the effective use of new online tools for teaching and learning, and in the development and implementation of instructional and assessment methodologies that extend well beyond the traditional frameworks practiced at the Technion. His pioneering approach is evident in the solutions he developed to address a range of new post-COVID challenges, particularly the decline in student attendance at lectures and tutorials, as well as reduced learning engagement throughout the semester. Dr. STAV responded to these challenges through multiple initiatives, including flipped classroom activity sessions, interactive videos for flexible viewing, weekly knowledge checks, and systematic collection of student feedback to inform improvements in subsequent semesters.

More broadly, Dr. Stav serves as an excellent model of effective teaching well beyond the specific course he teaches. His strength as an educator is grounded in deep mastery of the subject matter, continuous renewal of course content to better align with advanced courses, and sustained investigation of student learning difficulties. For the flipped classroom activities, he carefully selected topics that required the greatest depth and clarification. For these topics, he designed and led interactive and engaging lecture sessions that received exceptionally positive feedback from students. In developing these sessions and evaluating their impact, Dr. Stav collaborated and consulted with professional experts in teaching, including faculty members from the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology, the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, and leading lecturers from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

This combination of expertise, attentiveness to students, and creativity constitutes a winning formula that can contribute to the improvement of teaching quality in additional courses within the faculty and across the Technion.

In summary, Dr. Stav is a distinguished lecturer whose impact on the quality and experience of learning extends to a very large number of students. The faculty is proud and deeply appreciative of the recognition he has received for his work.

A source of great faculty pride.
