The following are general recommendations for presentation in the final exam. These recommendations are non-binding, and the advisor should be consulted on the appropriate structure for the field and topic that will be presented in the test.
- The presentation will be designed to last a maximum of half an hour, as a skeleton for the discussion. In addition, it is recommended to prepare a lot of backup slides in case you need to delve into this or that topic.
- The presentation can be roughly divided as follows: presentation of the problem and its importance, what has been done to date, the main contributions of the research presented, methods, experiments, and proofs.
- It is important to remember that the master’s exam is, as its name implies, that is, an exam and not a lecture. Therefore, the agenda is by the examiners. Be prepared for requests to go into more detail about some of the topics and perhaps skip other parts.
- Questions should be answered in detail and there is no need to try to deliver certain material at a certain pace as in a lecture.
