Research in Quantum Science and Technology spreads across a wide variety of disciplines, combining physics, mathematics, and computer science. The progress in recent years is outstanding, in both the experimental and theoretical fronts. Nonetheless, there are many challenges in the implementation and design of quantum systems.

Faculty activity in the field of quantum technologies includes both theory and experimental and applied development. On the theoretical side, the research deals with the analysis of quantum systems and the comparison of their performance to classical counterparts, the performance limitations of quantum communication and computing systems, confidentiality and reliability in quantum communication networks, and quantum error correction coding.

Experimental research ranges from quantum materials to quantum optics and emphasizes the development of building blocks for innovative platforms for quantum communication and computing, such as free electrons, nanophotonics, integrated photonic circuits, and more.
