Two Technion researchers, Prof. Lior Gepstein and Prof. Yoav Schechner, have been awarded Proof of Concept (PoC) grants from the European Research Council (ERC). Each grant, valued at €150,000, is aimed at previous ERC grant recipients to promote the translation of academic research into commercial applications, including the establishment of startups.
Advanced Cloud Mapping – Prof. Yoav Schechner
Prof. Schechner, from the Viterbi Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Head of the Asher Space Research Institute, has received a PoC grant to further develop advanced technologies originating from the CloudCT project, for which he received an ERC Synergy Grant in 2018.
The new grant focuses on developing an innovative calibration system for polarization-sensitive cameras, enhancing their performance in practical environmental conditions.
