Distinguished Professor Emeritus Jacob Ziv has been awarded the 2021 IEEE Medal of Honor

The faculty congratulates Distinguished Professor Emeritus Jacob Ziv

For receiving the prestigious IEEE honorary award for 2021.

The IEEE Medal of Honor has been awarded annually since 1917 to a single recipient, for “extraordinary contribution or extraordinary career in the interests of the IEEE,” and is considered the highest honor in the field of Electrical Engineering.

The award comes with the following quote: “For fundamental contributions to information theory and data compression technology, and to respectable research leadership.”

• Israel Prize winner (an award bestowed by the State of Israel, and regarded as the state’s highest cultural honor)

4. Marconi International Award 1995

5. IEEE Richard W. Hamming Medal 1995.

6. IEEE Information Theory Society Shannon Award for 1997.

7. ACM 1997 Paris Kanellakis Theory and Practice Award.

8. EMET Prize for 2017 in the area of Exact Sciences
