Guidelines for writing a research proposal for a master’s degree
- Scope: proposal length will be approximately between 2-10 pages, depending on the supervisor’s discretion.
- The offer should include:
- The title of the study in Hebrew and English, the name of the student, the names of all supervisors and advisors, indicating their roles (main supervisor, additional supervisor, advisor)
- An introduction describing the scientific background. Indicating the interest in the work and the importance of its execution.
- Description of the relationship and contrast with relevant works in the literature (a few sources can be cited).
- The goals of the work, the innovation in the research, and detailing the questions that the work will try to answer (in particular, hypotheses that will be tested).
- The details of the research methods (for example, theoretical research in proving theorems, developing algorithms, performing computer simulations, laboratory experiments, obtaining data from measures that exist in other institutions, questionnaires and surveys, field research)
- Details of preliminary results, to the extent that they have already been achieved;
- You can attach illustrations and photos.
- bibliography
- The above content must be detailed so that a faculty member in the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is not an expert in the research field can still understand what the field is about, what the student intends to research, and essential aspects of the approach.
The research proposal must be accompanied by a completed and signed “Research Topic Proposal for Master’s” form, which can be downloaded from the Graduate School website:
A student will be able to submit a research proposal only after successfully passing the exam in the “Research Ethics” course.
