Prof. Ayellet Tal from the faculty has won the Dr. Robert Shillman Award, given for outstanding research that has contributed to supporting the defense and security of Israel.

The award, being granted this year for the second time, is given for research work that has matured into application or is in advanced stages of development.

Prof. Tal’s research focuses on developing advanced technologies for object detection and identification using data collected from a variety of sensors. The work addresses the challenges of complex environmental conditions, such as diverse terrain, changing weather, and varying lighting conditions, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and reliability.

The project she has led in recent years demonstrates significant potential for advanced applications in the fields of information processing and automatic recognition, and serves as an example of the combination between research excellence and applied relevance.
